Dr. Laura Hanson

C.Psych, Clinical Psychologist (Mat Leave)

I am a clinical psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. I provide services to children and adolescents.

I have provided psychological services, including assessments, therapy, and consultation services in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, community mental health clinics, and private practice settings. I have worked with a variety of client populations, including children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder, serious mental health concerns, learning and developmental disabilities, as well as typically-developing children and adolescents learning to cope with a variety of circumstances and looking to enhance their own abilities and maximize their strengths.

I work with clients to meet a variety of goals using evidence-based practices. Specifically, my approach tends to centre around Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural therapy, and Behavioural approaches, with the integration of other approaches and methods as appropriate. Primarily though, I see clients as being the experts in their own experiences and the drivers of their own therapeutic experience.

Here at the Kanata Psychology and Counselling Centre, I look forward to providing psychological assessments and individual therapy services for children and adolescents, with my areas of focus including Autism Spectrum Disorder, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment difficulties, behavioural difficulties, emotional regulation, and social difficulties.
