I am a clinical and school psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. I work with individuals who experience a wide range of psychological and interpersonal difficulties. My clinical interests include issues related to anxiety, depression, resolving past or current relationship difficulties, life transitions, self-esteem problems, anger management, common life stressors (e.g., work or school-related, loss), and cross-cultural struggles (e.g., cultural identity, cross-cultural adjustment). I can also help with parenting issues and dealing with effects of family stress on children and adolescents.
I provide psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, and children, and I use an integrated approach to treatment drawing upon cognitive-behavioural, interpersonal, and experiential approaches. I work collaboratively with my clients to identify their therapeutic needs, develop their specific goals and help them move forward in their personal growth. I approach my clients in a genuine and compassionate fashion, and I aim to provide an atmosphere of trust, acceptance, and respect where one can feel comfortable and safe to tell their story, explore their difficulties, and work towards their own healing. I believe in the uniqueness of human experience and I place an emphasis on the impact of different psycho-social factors as well as cultural context in which individuals live. I also strive to recognize clients’ psychological potential and build on their strengths and capabilities.
Since 2005, I have worked in different clinical settings, including a university-based mental health clinic, inpatient and outpatient mental health services at the Ottawa Hospital and Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, community organizations, and the public school system. I am pleased to now be working at Kanata Psychology and Counselling Centre. I am currently also employed with the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.
